This represents a
transition for me in my wildlife imagery. Striving to
find some continuity in my developing plein air landscape
painting style with the introduction of wildlife
subjects. Not so much portraitist portrayal of wildlife
so common in that genre, but a more inclusive scene that
marriages the two more naturally. The se
ruffed grouse no doubt have been disturbed by an unfamiliar
sound approaching and are taking no chances. Flight to
the other side of the river is sure to bring them to safety.
