"Breaching Humpbacks"- Alaska series

A highlight of my Juneau, Alaska trip was when one of my workshop student's husband...Leonard, took my son Jason and I out to fish salmon.  Out in the oceanic channels we had a wonderful opportunity to see quite a few pods of humpback whales.   We were quite startled at one point when a pod of about eight humpbacks broke water...spraying out their water/air mix thru the blowspouts, just 30-40 feet off our starboard side.  An unbelievable amazing site to watch these graceful creatures at 40-50 feet in length and up to 50 tons each!< This piece is now offered on eBay...and works of 5"x7" typically are priced about $450 or more in the galleries.
